THE ISABELLA STEWART GARDNER MUSEUM (BOSTON, MA)

PENELOPE is a song cycle by composer Sarah Kirkland Snider, with lyrics by playwright Ellen McLaughlin. Inspired by Homer’s epic poem, the Odyssey, Penelope is a meditation on memory, identity, and what it means to come home.

LABYRINTH is made of two installation concertos that illustrates the living relationship between music and visual art. By incorporating the labyrinth theme with music, visual art/film, and advanced technology, a man and woman’s story through the labyrinth of life is illuminated and the journey is transcendent.

PERSONA is a provocative, highly cerebral, and artistically complex depiction of human frailty, cruelty, and identity. Composed by Rome Prize Winner, Keeril Makan with libretto and direction by Jay Scheib, who was named by American Theater Magazine as one of the “top 25 directors likely to shape American performance over the next twenty-five years.”
