BLOOD MOON

Blood Moon is taut, poetic, opera-theatre for three characters who encounter each other on the night of a full moon: a nephew who returns to the mountain top where he left his aunt to die forty years earlier, the ghost of the aunt he abandoned, and the moon that presides over this night of reckoning as it did the night of her death. Inspired by the Noh play Obasute, the piece is a meditation on the end of life, the nature of joy, regret, and whether atonement is possible.

Mr. Fisher has combined elements of opera, dance, Indian raga, Japanese Noh theater and more into fusions that have both a ritualistic intensity and an improvisatory freedom…a strong, unified and strikingly individual utterance of unambiguous beauty.
An impressive sensory and intellectual feast.
Riveting, poetic opera theater.
You'll get sucked into the drama and will leave wanting more.
Part fairy tale, part ghost story, part meditation on mortality and the sublime.
A whole new universe in which to delve
